TRA participates at the ITU and INA workshop

On 14-16 December 2009, in Skopje, Macedonia, the Chairman of the TRA Board, Mr. Ekrem Hoxha and the two Board Members Mr. Lulzim Kurtaj and Mr. Besnik Berisha, participated in the workshop: “Telecommunication and Media Sectors Convergence and Implications for Policy Makers and Regulators” organized by AEC (Agency for Electronic Communications of the Republic of Macedonia) and supported by  International Telecommunications Union- Telecommunications Development Bureau and the Telecoms Academy for South-eastern Europe, INA Academy, from Greece.

At this three-day workshop, there were representations from all regional regulators including officials from ETNO (European Telecommunication Network Operators Association) and lecturers/academics from academic institutions of the region.  The discussed topics included regulatory policies for internet markets, convergence of technologies and regulations, strategies for mobile broadband services, platforms for wireless communications and other issues with a special emphasis on the work and challenges of regulators in creating a strong legislative and practical environment, suitable for new technologies in respective markets.

The participation of the TRA delegation in this workshop was of a special importance since there were unique interactive discussions of the topics with INA Academy representatives that raised the interest of the regulators.

During the work sessions with groups , the TRA delegation had the opportunity to inform the participants on new initiatives and projects that aim at creating a suitable environment for all existing and potential operators, where a special importance will be drawn to supporting new technologies, in harmony with EU and world directives and best practices.
